Space Coast Sailing Education Foundation (SCSEF) sailing education follows a sixteen-hour curriculum developed by US Sailing, considered the national standard for excellence in sailing instruction.
The syllabus follows US Sailing’s book, ‘Learn Sailing Right’, but also tailors it as necessary to best align with our local environment and student makeup.
There are 2 classes, a Beginner class (little or no previous experience) and an Intermediate class (either have taken the beginner class or have previous experience). See below for details.
Classes total 16 hours, and broken up into two classroom sessions and three on-water sessions over a two week period. Classroom days are Thursdays 6:30pm – 8:30pm while on-water days are Saturday and Sunday, 9am – noon. Class days meet regardless of the weather. We make every effort to get out on the water, but if thunderstorms or high winds limits on-water activities we can still get benefits from classroom time. A class schedule and additional details are emailed to all attendees by the instructor prior to class.
